GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team lost a non-conference game to the Houghton Highlanders Saturday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome, 20-14.
The Tomcats outscored the Highlanders 10-8 in the second half but were unable to overcome a 12-4 halftime deficit.
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored a game-high seven goals for the Tomcats and added three assists for a 10-point game.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) scored three goals while
Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) recorded three points (2G, 1A) and six draw controls.
Alex Geraci (Garrettsville, Ohio/Crestwood) contributed two goals, five ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Houghton's Marissa Hews led all players with 11 points (5G, 6A). Cori Beck notched six points (5G, 1A) while Mary Doell scored five goals and tallied 14 draw controls.
Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made 19 saves for Thiel. Hailey Potter made six saves for Houghton.
The Tomcats will host the D'Youville Spartans on Saturday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
