LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team earned a 3-1 non-conference win over the Saint Vincent Bearcats Wednesday at the Carey Center.
 
The Tomcats lost the first set (25-23) but went on win the next three games (25-15, 25-15, 25-19) to win the match.
 
Mitch Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led Thiel with 18 kills while also contributing five digs. Jacob DeRue (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) notched 11 kills, four blocks and three aces. Chance Hoffman (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) handed out 40 assists while also coming up with nine digs and six aces.
 
Also for Thiel, Colton Greenlee (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) recorded eight kills and eight digs. Jacob Burkley (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) chipped in with four blocks.
 
Collin Neville paced the Bearcats with 13 kills. Josh Canty and Matt Furrer each tallied 14 assists while Mitch Niderstros contributed 10 kills and nine digs.
 
The Tomcats and Bearcats are scheduled to play a rematch on Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
