ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 non-conference loss Saturday on the road to the St. John Fisher Cardinals.
 
The Tomcats fell in straight sets 25-13, 25-21, 25-16.
 
Mitch Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) paced Thiel with a match-best 14 kills. Chance Hoffman (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) recorded 22 assists while D'ondre Merren (Brooklyn, Md./North County) notched eight digs.
 
Josh Bigford led the Cardinals with eight kills, three aces and a pair of blocks. Paul Hackford tallied 24 assists and eight digs.
 
The Tomcats will open Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play Thursday when they take on the Penn State Behrend Lions on the road. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
