GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team won a non-conference game over the Hilbert Hawks Saturday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome, 16-11.
It was Thiel's second straight win after defeating Muskingum 14-7 on Wednesday.
Thiel outscored Hilbert 8-2 in the first quarter and cruised to the non-conference victory. Tied 2-2 near the midpoint of the first frame, the Tomcats went on to score six consecutive goals.
Jeffrey Karnoff (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central), who tallied his 100
th career point Saturday, recorded a natural hat trick during the stretch.
Karnoff, who became the seventh Tomcat to record 100 career points, scored four goals and added two assists Saturday.
Nick Sylvis (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) scored four goals while
JJ Raab (Butler, Pa./Butler) tallied four points (3G, 1A).
Andrew Miller (Macedon, N.Y./Penfield) caused four turnovers for Thiel.
Jack Fontana (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted) won 16 faceoffs and snared 10 ground balls.
James Chadwick paced the Hawks with six points (3G, 3A). Donovan Dilbert recorded four points (3G, 1A).
Cole O'Connor (Midlothian, Va./James River) made 10 saves for the Tomcats. Michael Dhondt made 16 saves for Hilbert.
The Tomcats (2-2) will be back in action Wednesday when they face the Marietta Pioneers on the road. The non-conference game will begin at 6 p.m.
