GROVE CITY, Pa. – The top-seeded Grove City Wolverines defeated the eighth-seeded Thiel Tomcats in the quarterfinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Tuesday, 76-62.
Thiel trailed Grove City by nine points (36-27) at halftime. The Tomcats cut the lead down to three points (42-39) roughly five minutes into the second half when
Michael Ricks (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Architecture and Design) drained a three-pointer, but the Wolverines pulled away down the stretch.
Ricks scored a game- and career-high 29 points. He connected on 11-of-17 shots from the floor, including 4-of-7 attempts from three-point range.
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored 15 points to go along with four assists and a pair of steals.
Chima Omeihe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) led Thiel with eight rebounds. He also contributed six points.
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) scored eight points and secured seven rebounds.
Nate Peters led Grove City with 19 points. James Wells scored 15 points while Justice Rice chipped in with 12 points.
