CRESSON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team dropped a 6-2 non-conference contest to the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Tuesday.
After a scoreless first 20 minutes, Mount Aloysius scored two goals in less than three minutes and tripled their lead to 3-0 in the 39
th minute.
Evan Young (Bryans Road, Md. /Henry E. Lackey) got on the board for the Tomcats with just under five minutes remaining in the first half, cutting the Mountie lead to 3-1.
Young would score again in the opening minute of the second half pulling Thiel to a 3-2 deficit. A one-goal differential is as close to the lead as the Tomcats would get as the Mounties would score three unanswered goals to seal the home victory.
Joshua Devlin led Mount Aloysius with two goals while Joshua Christie scored a goal of his own and handed out two assists.
Andreas Hauge Jonassen (Stavanger, Nor/) and
Bradley Novak (Wellington, Ohio/Keystone) tallied the assists on Young's goals.
Defensively, all three Thiel goalkeepers saw time in net and combined for 12 saves in the loss.
The Tomcats will be back in action on Thursday when they host the Hilbert Hawks. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
