BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Thiel College men's soccer team suffered its first road loss of the season on Sunday to the D'Youville Spartans, 3-1.
The lone goal for Thiel came off the right foot of freshman
Evan Young (Bryans Road, Md. /Henry E. Lackey). In the 82
nd minute, Young intercepted the Spartan goal kick attempt out of the air. After settling the ball on the ground, Young took a touch and ripped a shot from about 25 yards out over the keeper's head into the far side of the net for his first goal in a Tomcat uniform.
Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton) recorded three saves in net.
Christopher Felger (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) tallied four shots, three of which were on target.
Marco Ciccarelli, Hunter Sherman and Mwibeleca Tumba all scored for the Spartans.
The Tomcats are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 3 when they host the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. Kickoff at Alumni Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m.
