BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's tennis team opened the 2019 season Friday with a 6-3 non-conference loss on the road to the Medaille Mavericks.
 
Three Tomcats earned wins in singles play in the opener. Freshman Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) defeated Madison Knapp 6-3, 6-3 at second singles while Allyson Stanley (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) earned a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Hallie Dworzanski at fourth singles. Freshman Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) won at sixth singles 6-3, 4-3.
 
The Tomcats will host the Grove City Wolverines Saturday. The PAC match will begin at noon.
