GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team concluded the 2019 season with a win over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Waynesburg University 10-7 on Monday at Tomcat Park.
Waynesburg opened the game with a run scored by Tyler Reis to put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0 after one.
The Tomcats responded with six unanswered runs, of the six runs
Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) drive in three including a solo-homerun in the sixth.
A six run seventh from Waynesburg put the Yellow Jackets back up 7-6 before Thiel knotted the game up at 7-7 after seven.
In the eighth,
Alex Lam's (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) sacrifice fly to center gave Thiel a lead they would not relinquish as Thiel went to the ninth up 10-7.
JT Bowen (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) collected the win, while
Myles Metz (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) earned the save.
Thiel finished the PAC regular season in fifth place just one spot shy of qualifying for the four-team PAC Championship Tournament.
The Tomcats ended the year 17-22 overall and 13-11 in conference.
