Tomcats score 17 in win over Bobcats

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg 17-12, Wednesday afternoon at Tomcat Park.

The Bobcats struck first in the 29-run contest as Tyler Holland singled down the left field line to score a run before the Tomcats answered in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own to make it 1-1 after one.

Three runs in the second put UPG up 4-1 before Thiel countered with two runs of their own as Adam Simon (McClellandtown, Pa./Albert Galatin) tripled to score a run and Griffin Curry (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) collected a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. Daniel Patrice (Munich, Germany/EST) knotted the game up at 4-4 with an RBI single in the third.

A five run fourth for the Bobcats put them up 9-5. Thiel would go on to put up nine unanswered runs, as the Tomcats took a 13-9 advantage into the seventh.
