Tomcats celebrate Senior Day against Wolverines

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Grove City Wolverines Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium, 59-47.
 
Grove City led 34-22 at halftime and 50-33 after three quarters. The Tomcats cut the lead down to nine points (56-47) with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter but were unable to get any closer down the stretch.
 
Danyelle Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led Thiel with 14 points while securing five rebounds. Freshman forward Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) logged her 15th double-double of the season with a game-best 11 rebounds and 10 points. Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) scored 10 points and recorded five rebounds.
 
Jess Brown scored a game-high 19 points and secured nine rebounds for the Wolverines. Laura Buchanan contributed 14 points.
 
Thiel's Lucido, Vormelker and Alivia Sidley (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) were honored prior to Saturday's game during Senior Day.
 
Thiel will play Waynesburg on the road Wednesday. The PAC game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
