EDINBORO, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team opened the 2019-20 season Friday with a 95-72 loss to the Division II Edinboro Fighting Scots at McComb Fieldhouse.
First-year forward
Chima Omeihe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) led the Tomcats with 13 points. Omeihe went 4-for-4 from the floor, made 5-of-6 shots from the free throw line and pulled down seven rebounds.
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) scored 11 points, nine of which came on three-pointers.
Michael Ricks (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Architecture and Design) and
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored nine points apiece while
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) scored eight points and corralled seven rebounds.
Anthony Coleman scored a game-best 27 points for Edinboro. Jaryn Simpson scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Thiel will play its home opener on Tuesday against Penn State Behrend. The non-conference game will begin at 7 p.m.
