Cougars top Tomcats

Johnson records ninth double-double of season

PITTSBURGH – The Thiel College women's basketball team suffered a 62-50 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss on the road Saturday night to the Chatham Cougars.
 
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) led the Tomcats in the loss with 15 points and 12 rebounds while also recording four assists. It was the freshman forward's ninth double-double of the season. Rachel Breckenridge (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire), another freshman, came off the bench to score 13 points, nine of which were from 3-point range.
 
Senior guard Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) scored 12 points and secured five rebounds in the loss.
 
Katie Sieg scored a game-high 22 points for the Cougars while corralling seven rebounds. Kaitlyn Fertig scored 12 points while Megan Sieg scored nine points and led her team with eight rebounds.
 
The Tomcats will travel to Grove City to take on the Wolverines Wednesday. The PAC game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
