GREENVILLE, Pa. – Seniors
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley),
Danyelle Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and
Alivia Sidley (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) combined for 54 points Wednesday to lead the Thiel College women's basketball team to a 79-56 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Geneva Golden Tornadoes at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats never trailed en route to their second consecutive PAC win. Vormelker scored a game-best 23 points while recording seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. She made 8-of-16 shots from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
Lucido scored a season-high 18 points. She made six shots from the floor on the night, five of which were treys, and tallied three assists. Sidley made five field goals and finished with 13 points while also contributing six rebounds and three assists.
Thiel freshman forward
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) scored 17 points and corralled a game-best 16 rebounds to notch her 12
th double-double of the season. Johnson made 7-of-13 shots from the floor and also dished out six assists.
Callie Ford paced Geneva with 17 points and eight rebounds while Alexis Gates scored 15 points.
Thiel will take on Oberlin on the road Friday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
