GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team lost its home opener Saturday to the Mount Aloysius Mounties, 2-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Mounties scored their first goal a little more than three minutes into the second half when Jordan Gebhart tapped in a free kick from Leah Frerichs.
The Mounties picked up an insurance goal with a little more than 10 minutes remaining in regulation when Summer Schell scored on a free kick.
Chimamaka Palmer (Northfield, Ohio/Mayfield) made three saves in the loss while Lauren Davey made five saves for the Mounties.
Nicole Pereksta (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) led the Tomcats with four shots, three of which were on goal.
The Tomcats will be back in action Monday when they host the La Roche Redhawks. Kickoff at Alumni Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
