GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team lost 4-2 in nonconference matchup Monday night against La Roche College at Alumni Stadium.
A strike from just outside the box from La Roche's Carly Wilson gave the Redhawks an early 1-0 advantage in the 4'.
Thiel answered in the 20' as
Nicole Pereksta (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) buried a crossing ball from
Marissa Ramirez (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst Steele) for the equalizer. Thiel and La Roche were knotted up at 1-1 until Wilson scored her second goal of the game for the Redhawks to make it 2-1 in favor of La Roche in the 36'.
Ramirez followed up a rebounded shot from
Emma Polinski (Brunswick, Ohio/Trinity) to put Thiel back to even just before the half.
Tied at 2-2, La Roche struck first in the second half to make it 3-2 in the 48'. The Tomcats could not produce another score and would go on to lose 4-2, as La Roche cemented their lead with a goal on a free kick in the 73'.
The Tomcats return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Hamburg, N.Y. to take on Hilbert College, kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
