STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel College women's soccer team opened the 2018 season Saturday on the road with a 7-0 non-conference loss to the Franciscan Barons.
 
Emily Wieszczek led the Barons with a hat trick. Elizabeth Dawyot scored a goal and assisted on two other goals.
 
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) recorded two shots on goal for the Tomcats.
 
Sarah Luebking made three saves to record the shutout for the Barons. Chimamaka Palmer (Northfield, Ohio/Mayfield) and Shay Tresler (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) combined to make seven saves for Thiel.
 
Thiel will take on Pitt Bradford Monday on the road. The non-conference game will begin at noon.
