GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Westminster Titans Wednesday at Tomcat Park, 2-1.
The Tomcats and Titans were scheduled to play two 7-inning games, but rain forced the cancellation of the second game. The second game will be made up, but a date has not yet been determined.
The Titans scored all the runs they would need in their first at-bat of the day when Kailey Liverman delivered a 2-RBI double to center field.
The Tomcats loaded the bases with one out in the second inning but were only able to push one run across the plate on
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional)'s single into shallow left field.
Fike led Thiel at the plate with two hits and one RBI. Liverman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Shannon Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry) took the loss. She allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Jazmyn Rohrer earned the win for Westminster. She allowed one run on four hits and struck out 12 batters.
The Tomcats are scheduled to face the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on the road Saturday. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
