SANFORD, N.C. – The Thiel College men's golf team was defeated 322-343 Wednesday by the La Roche Redhawks at Tobacco Road Golf Club in Sanford, N.C.
Senior
Jason Thorp (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) led the Tomcats with an 8-over-par 79. Freshman
Matt Burchard (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) turned in an 87 while
Greg Galbo (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) carded an 88 and
Randy Santarelli (Linesville, Pa./Conneaut Area) finished with an 89.
Also for Thiel,
Jimmy Buckley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) shot a 92,
Matt Babeji (Lawrence, Pa./Canon-McMillan) scored a 94 and
Colton McCright (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) carded a 95.
La Roche's Dave Wilson was the medalist with a 5-over-par 76.
The Tomcats will compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Thursday, March 29. The invitational will take place at Longue Vue Country Club in Verona, Pa.
