WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road Wednesday night to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents, 67-58.
Thiel led at halftime (29-23) but W&J tied up the game (32-32) less than four minutes into the second half on Sean Stinelli's 3-pointer. The Tomcats led by as many as seven points after Stinelli's game-tying trey, but the Presidents went ahead with 8:37 remaining in regulation and did not trail the rest of the way.
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) tallied a double-double for the Tomcats with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) scored 10 points while
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) and
Josh Lumbus (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) each scored eight points.
Stinelli scored a game-best 17 points for the Presidents while Jonathan DeVito and Amos Luptak scored 11 points apiece. Nicholas Campalong led the Presidents with 10 rebounds.
The Tomcats will be back in action Saturday when they host the Saint Vincent Bearcats at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
