GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team fell in straight sets (3-0) to fifth-ranked Marymount University Saturday morning at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match was controlled early on by the Saints after they earned a first-set victory by a score of 25-16 to take the lead.
The Tomcats hung with the fifth-ranked Saints in the second (25-22) and third (25-23) sets but would fall in each to give Marymount a sweep on the day.
Leaders for the Tomcats included
Mitchell Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), who racked up a game-high 12 kills, and
Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area), who dished out a game-high 28 assists.
With the loss Thiel falls to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The Tomcats will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Juniata College in a CVC match starting at 7:30 p.m. at Beeghly Gymnasium.
