GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener Sunday to the Westminster Titans at Beeghly Gymnasium, 82-69.
Tied 17-17 with seven minutes left in the first half, the Titans went on a 15-8 run to hold a 32-25 lead at halftime.
Westminster led by as many as 23 points in the second half. The Tomcats cut the lead down to eight points twice late in the second half but would get no closer.
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) led the Tomcats with a game-high 18 points while
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) scored 17 points.
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored 11 points and led the Tomcats with eight rebounds.
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
Austin Armwood and Anthony Ritter each scored 13 points for the Titans. Blake Payne recorded a double-double with a game-best 13 rebounds and 11 points. Dylan O'Hara chipped in with 10 points.
The Tomcats will return to action Wednesday when they face the Saint Vincent Bearcats on the road. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
