NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team opened play Friday in the Buzz Ridl Classic, hosted by Westminster College, with a 69-54 non-conference win over the SUNY Geneseo Knights.
 
The Tomcats never trailed the Knights and led by as many as 19 points in the second half.
 
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) led Thiel with 17 points and four rebounds. Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists. Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) scored nine points while freshman forward Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) led his team with seven rebounds.
 
Terrance Nichols scored a game-high 25 points for the Knights while securing seven rebounds. Alex Merhige led the Knights with nine rebounds.
 
The Tomcats will conclude play in the Buzz Ridl Classic Saturday when they take on the Defiance Yellow Jackets at 2 p.m.
