GREENVILLE, Pa. – A
Nicole Pereksta (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) goal in the 95' was the difference in the Thiel College women's soccer team's match on Wednesday night against Presidents' Athletic Conference opponent Bethany College.
The Tomcats took the match 1-0 in overtime. The game-winner came on a cross and finish by Pereksta, who was assisted by
Maddie Sollers (Suffield, Ohio/Field). Pereksta was one-on-one with the keeper and buried the ball in the far panel of the cage to give Thiel their first PAC victory of the season.
Bethany outshot Thiel 12 to seven but the Tomcats recorded the match's only goal in overtime.
Freshman goalkeeper
Shay Tresler (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) kept a clean sheet and registered a match-high eight saves.
Pereksta had a team-high 3 shots in the overtime win.
With the result, Thiel improves to 2-8-2 and 1-1 in the PAC. Thiel's win is the first over Bethany since October 22, 2013 when the Tomcats downed the Bison 2-1 in Bethany, W. Va.
The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday as they host PAC opponent Saint Vincent College at Alumni Stadium, kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
