NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College football team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Harold Burry Stadium Saturday to the Westminster Titans, 49-7.
Damon Smith (South Park, Pa./South Park) scored Thiel's touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a six-yard run. Tomcat running back
William Watkins (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) led all players with 75 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Westminster quarterback Augustus Necastro completed 14-of-24 passes for 239 yards. Necastro threw two touchdown passes and one interception.
Connor Cox led Westminster with seven receptions for 149 yards. Necastro threw both of his touchdown passes to Bryson Paulinellie, the first a 15-yarder and the second an eight-yarder.
Keyandre Hood (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) made three catches for Thiel while
Jaime Sommers (Erie, Pa./Seneca) reeled in a pair of catches for 18 yards.
Bryce Hill paced Westminster on the ground with 64 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
Cody Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) led Thiel on defense with 11 tackles and a forced fumble.
Dusty Maines (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) also contributed nine tackles.
Trou Johnson (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) made four stops and broke up a pair of passes while
Yoseph Bekele (Silver Springs, Md./Paint Branch) intercepted a pass, which he returned 38 yards.
Joey Lane made eight tackles for Westminster. Aaron Pierce intercepted a pass for the Titans, which he returned 98 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter.
The Tomcats will host the Carnegie Mellon Tartans next Saturday at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff for the PAC game is set for 1 p.m.
