Titans outlast Tomcats

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Thiel College men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Westminster College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Wednesday night.

Westminster took an early lead with a goal in the first minute from Justin Brandt off a deflection to put the Titans up 1-0.

The Tomcats offense struggled in the early going of the match as they only registered one shot heading into the half.

The Titans wasted little time building their lead in the second half as a crossing ball from Peter Mattocks was driven to the back of the net by Nick Iregui to put Westminster up 2-0 in the 52nd minute.

Thiel ended the match with just four shots, sophomore Shotaro Kawaguchi (Tokyo, Japan/) collected a team-high two shots on the night.

Senior goalkeeper Christian Conrad (Barberton, Ohio/Central Catholic) made a game-high 16 saves and allowed just two goals in ninety minutes of work.

With the result, the Tomcats now sit at 5-8-1 and 1-2-1 in the PAC.

The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday as they host Waynesburg University in a PAC matchup, kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
