Evjene, Moss, Novak score in Tomcat shutout victory

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team picked up their first win of the year Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium. The Tomcats won the contest 3-0 over the visiting Pitt-Bradford Panthers.

Tomcat goals were scored by Keegan Moss (Atwater, Ohio/Waterloo) in the eighth minute, Josh Evjene (Orrstown, Pa./Chambersburg) in the 47th minute and Tyler Novak (Oberlin, Ohio/Open Door Christian) in the 63rd minute.
 
Thiel was able to take the lead in the eighth as Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville) placed a corner kick inside the box and Moss finished it to give the Tomcats a 1-0 lead.
 
The Tomcats continued to pressure the Panthers in the first half totaling 10 shots in the half but were unable to add to their lead before the half.
 
It did not take the Tomcats long to solidify their lead in the second half as Evjene scored on a pass from Gino Graffia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) inside the box to make it 2-0 47 minutes in.
 
The Tomcats were highly effective on set pieces on the night as Oliver placed another corner kick inside the box for Novak to finish for the Tomcats' third goal of the night in the 63rd minutd. Oliver finished the night with two assists.
 
The Tomcat defense played well to keep the shutout intact, Goalkeeper Christian Conrad (Barberton, Ohio/Central Catholic) picked up his first win and shutout of the season as he collected six saves on the night.
 
Thiel fired 18 total shots in the game and only allowed seven from Pitt-Bradford, with the win Thiel improves to 1-1 on the year.
 
The Tomcats will now face Pitt-Greensburg on Friday night at Alumni Stadium in a non-conference matchup, kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The women's soccer team will take on Franciscan University beforehand at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
