LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team was defeated on the road by the Saint Vincent Bearcats Wednesday 14-9 in the semifinals of the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) Championship Tournament.
Mike Bryant (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) led the Tomcats to a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period on a pair of unassisted goals, but the Bearcats led 5-3 at halftime. After the teams each scored four goals in the third period the Bearcats outdistanced the Tomcats 5-2 in the fourth quarter to advance to the conference championship game against the Transylvania Pioneers on Saturday.
Bryant and
Brennen O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the Tomcats with two goals and an assist apiece.
Andrew Casile (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) also scored two goals for Thiel.
Joe Puvel led Saint Vincent with four goals while Alex Mueser contributed four points (3G, 1A). Hunter Sharp also scored three goals.
Goalkeepers
Cole O'Connor (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Connor McMillen each made 10 saves.
The Tomcats concluded the 2017 season with a 10-5 record overall.
