GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson Presidents came back in the fourth quarter Wednesday to earn a 62-53 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Thiel Tomcats at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel led W&J at the end of the first quarter (21-18), at halftime (36-34) and at the end of the third quarter (46-44). The Presidents earned the conference win by outscoring the Tomcats 18-7 over the final 10 minutes. Danielle Parker scored the go-ahead bucket with 6:05 left in regulation, and the Presidents never looked back.
Danyelle Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led the Tomcats with 14 points while also recording two assists and two steals.
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) contributed 12 points and a trio of assists while
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) recorded her 11
th double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Taylor Cortazzo led the Presidents with 21 points and nine rebounds while Rachel Bellhy scored 13 points and corralled eight rebounds. Also for the Presidents, Parker notched a double-double with 13 rebounds and 10 points.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday when they take on the Saint Vincent Bearcats on the road. The PAC game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
