GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on the road Wednesday to the Grove City Wolverines, 70-56.
Thiel trailed Grove City at the end of the first quarter (25-18) and at halftime (34-28). The Tomcats won the third quarter (19-13) and tied the game up (47-47) heading into the final frame, but the Wolverines won the fourth quarter (23-9) to earn the league win.
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led the Tomcats with a game-high 25 points. She also recorded seven rebounds and four steals. Also for Thiel,
Jessica Lovell (Washington, Pa./Trinity) scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked a pair of shots while
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) scored nine points, corralled eight rebounds and blocked two shots.
Kate Balcom led the Wolverines with 24 points while securing a game-best nine rebounds. Lexie Arkwright scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds while Jackie Stewart scored 10 points.
The Tomcats will host the Chatham Cougars Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
