GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team earned a 57-55 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Tomcats with 21 points.
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) scored 10 points while registering six rebounds. Also for Thiel,
Josh Lumbus (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) scored nine points while
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) led his team with seven rebounds.
The Tomcats led by four points at halftime (28-24) and by as many as seven points in the second half. However, the Golden Tornadoes closed the gap down the stretch and took a 55-54 lead with 90 seconds remaining in regulation. Burton put the Tomcats ahead for good with one second left when he nailed a 3-pointer from the left wing.
Ethan Moose led Geneva with 17 points while Jimmy Leichliter scored 15 points. Nick Rusyn led the Golden Tornadoes with a game-best eight rebounds.
The Tomcats (3-2, 1-1 PAC) will host the Case Western Reserve Spartans Wednesday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
