Barca paces Tomcats against Saints

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College football team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road Saturday to the Thomas More Saints, 56-7.
 
The Saints led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter after Brenan Kuntz and Luke Zajac scored on touchdown runs of 16- and 9-yards, respectively.
 
Thiel came back early in the second and cut the lead in half when Charles Debose (Buffalo, N.Y./Cardinal O'Hara) plowed into the end zone from four yeards out.
 
Thomas More reclaimed its 14-point lead late in the second quarter when Daylin Garland caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Kuntz.
 
The second half belonged to the Saints, who scored 35 unanswered points over the remaining 30 minutes of the game.
 
Kuntz completed 14-of-22 passes for 195 yards with a pair of touchdown passes. Zajac led the Saints on the ground with 161 yards and three scores on 19 totes. Garland caught six passes, including one touchdown grab, for 67 yards.
 
Nick Barca (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) paced the Tomcats with 95 yards on 20 carries. Debose gained 10 yards and scored a touchdown on three carries. David Pugh (Hollywood, Fla./Christopher Columbus) reeled in a pair of passes for 10 yards.
 
Khalil Harvey led Thiel ?with 10 tackles while Dalton DuBrosky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Matt Crawford (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) each recorded nine tackles. Adam Guard led the Saints with 10 tackles while Cam Hansel made four tackles and recorded three sacks.
 
The Tomcats will conclude the 2017 season Saturday when they face the Grove City Wolverines in the 34th annual battle for the Mercer County Cup. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
