GREENVILLE, Pa. The Thiel College women's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference match to Washington and Jefferson College on Monday night.
The Presidents started the scoring as Brianna Floryshak scored on a free kick to take a 1-0 advantage in the 19th minute. The Tomcats answered in the 30th minute with a free kick score of their own when
Lauren Hradesky (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield)Â scored from inside the box.
At the end of the first half the game was tied at 1-1. In the 60' Tatiana Ruzzini put W&J up with a ball buried in the back far right corner of the net just passed Goalkeeper
Chimamaka Palmer (Northfield, Ohio/Mayfield) to make it 2-1 in favor of the Presidents.
In the 79th minute, W&J scored another goal as Ruzzini drove the ball deep into Tomcat territory before crossing a ball right at the six for Ashton Grimm to finish as the Presidents took a 3-1 lead.
However, the Tomcats were not done as
Kaytee Candela (Ashtabula, Ohio/Lakeside) received a well-placed through ball just outside the box and dribbled and scored passed the W&J keeper to put Thiel within one.
Thiel was unable to tie the game in the remaining minutes and fell to W&J by a final score of 3-2.
The Tomcats will be back in action on Wednesday night against Grove City College at Alumni Stadium, kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
