BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College women's basketball team suffered a 70-67 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss Saturday to the Bethany Bison at Hummel Fieldhouse.
The Tomcats led 22-12 after one quarter but trailed the Bison 38-37 at halftime. Thiel trailed by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter but finished the game on an 18-8 run.
Alivia Sidley (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) made it a three-point game on a three-pointer with 40 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Tomcats would get no closer and the Bison held on for the PAC win.
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) led the Tomcats with 22 points. She also recorded seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sidley scored 13 points while
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored 10 points.
Jessica Lovell (Washington, Pa./Trinity) scored eight points and corralled seven rebounds while
Brijae Journee (Cleveland, Ohio/Villa-Angela St. Joseph) scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
Kelsea Daugherty notched a double-double for the Bison with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds. Hayley Holenka contributed 16 points while Kelsi Settle recorded a game-best 15 rebounds to go along with 10 points.
The Tomcats will host the Saint Vincent Bearcats Wednesday at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
