PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team was defeated by the Chatham Cougars in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday, 67-64.
Thiel led at halftime (31-27) but trailed after three quarters (50-48). The Tomcats tied up the game 60-60 with 3:32 remaining in the fourth quarter on a three-pointer by
Danyelle Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City). However, the Cougars outscored the Tomcats 7-4 down the stretch to earn the conference victory.
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) paced the Tomcats with 20 points and 10 rebounds to record her ninth double-double of the season.
Brijae Journee (Cleveland, Ohio/Villa-Angela St. Joseph) scored 12 points while Lucido netted 11 points and
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored 10 points.
Katelyn Sieg scored a game-high 26 points for the Cougars while Megan Sieg scored 13 points. Jesse Hinkle notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Ashley McClain contributed 12 points.
The Tomcats will return to action Wednesday when they host the Grove City Wolverines at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
