GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team fell in three sets (19-25, 18-25, 23-25) to the Wooster Fighting Scots in the 2016 home opener at Beeghly Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) paced the Tomcat offense with nine kills. Friedel also added two blocks.
Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) each collected five kills for the Tomcats. Monroe also registered two solo blocks while Boyer put in two service aces on the Fighting Scots.
Hannah Rossman (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) dished out 15 assists in the loss.
Hayley Macko (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) and
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) controlled the back line for the Tomcats. Macko had a game-high 17 digs while Allen dug out 13 attacks.
Anna Emmick had a team-high nine kills for the Fighting Scots.
The Tomcats (3-2) will participate in the two-day Northwest Pa. Challenge this weekend. The Tomcats will take on the Allegheny Gators and the D'Youville Spartans on the first day. The action from Meadville, Pa. is slated to begin Friday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.
