STEUBENVILLE, Ohio –
Kaytee Candela (Ashtabula, Ohio/Lakeside) and
Cassie Koch (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe) each scored a goal Saturday, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel College women's soccer team in a 4-2 road loss to the Franciscan University Barons.
Anna McCarty gave the Barons the lead 18 seconds into the contest, but the Tomcats came back to tie up the score roughly seven minutes later on Candela's shot to the left side of the net.
Franciscan responded with three straight goals, one by McCarty and two by Clare Kennedy. Koch closed out scoring in the 86
th minute on a shot over the defense from the middle of the field.
Kim Gentry (Madison, Ohio/Madison) made four save for the Tomcats in 90 minutes of work. Sarah Luebking earned the win for the Barons.
The Tomcats will travel to Buffalo, N.Y., to face the D'Youville Spartans Wednesday. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
