NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. –
Edward Kargbo (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) scored six goals Wednesday to lead the Thiel College men's lacrosse team to a 20-7 Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) win over the Westminster Titans at Harold Burry Stadium.
Kargbo and
Brennen O'Shea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) each scored a pair of goals in the first period to help stake the Tomcats to an early 5-2 lead. Thiel held a 7-3 lead at the break before outscoring Westminster 13-4 in the second half.
Kargbo set personal single-game bests with six goals and seven points. O'Shea and
Aaron Parry (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each scored three goals and notched three assists to finish with six points.
Kyle Reib (Erie, Pa./McDowell) tallied five points (2G, 3A) while
Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and
Shawndel Evans II (New Haven, Conn./Notre Dame) scored two goals apiece. Saffer also won 22-of-30 faceoffs while
Ian Bergbigler (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) caused five turnovers.
Max Wike paced the Titans with four goals and an assist. Zack Shorts also scored a pair of goals.
Charles Wistner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) made four saves for the Tomcats to earn his eighth win of the season. Carter Hall denied 21 shots for the Titans.
The Tomcats (8-2, 3-1 ORLC) will host the Saint Vincent Bearcats Saturday at Alumni Stadium. The ORLC game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
