GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three games Saturday afternoon with an 18-7 non-conference win over the Houghton Highlanders at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
Thiel held a 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the game on goals by
Sean Loney (Linthicum, Md./North County) and
Timothy O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley). The Tomcats went on to build up a 9-3 lead at halftime on their way to their third consecutive win.
Timothy O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the Tomcats with seven goals and three assists (10 points) while Loney scored three goals and added three assists for a six-point game.
Also for Thiel,
Brennen O'Shea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored three goals while
Edward Kargbo (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) scored a goal and recorded a pair of assists.
Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and
Sam Raymond (East Patchogue/Bellport Senior) both contributed three assists.
Charles Wistner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) made eight saves for the Tomcats and earned his third straight win. Houghton's Chris Bucciarelli denied 20 Thiel shots.
Austin Andryshak led the Highlanders with four goals while Paul Chapman netted two goals.
The Tomcats (3-1) will host the Muskingum Fighting Muskies on Wednesday, March 9. The non-conference game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
