MONACA, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against the Penn State Beaver Lions Wednesday. After losing 5-1 in the first game, the Tomcats racked up a 16-0 win in five innings in the second game. 
Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) earned the win in the second game to improve to 4-2 on the season. Williams refused to allow a run on four hits in five innings of work. She issued one walk and struck out three batters. 
Thiel scored four runs in the first inning of Game 2 before adding six more runs in the second inning. The Tomcats went on to add six more runs in the fourth inning. 
Jessica Kelley (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) and 
Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) each recorded three hits in the second game. 
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) hit a pair of singles and drove in three runs. 
Cara Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry) also hit a pair of singles while 
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) drove in three runs on a bases-clearing triple. 
The Lions led 4-0 after four innings in the first game. The Tomcats chipped away at the lead in the top of the fifth when Baker scored on a Fike single, but were unable to generate any more runs over the final two innings. Thiel stranded nine base runners in the loss. 
Fike led the Tomcats at the plate in the first game with a pair of singles and one RBI. Kelley struck out six batters in six innings. 
Thiel (6-8) is scheduled to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday against the Grove City Wolverines. The first game of the doubleheader at Tomcat Park is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
