HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va. dropping a three-set match (12-25, 9-25, 18-25) to Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) foe Eastern Mennonite University but rebounded with a three-set sweep (21-25, 15-25, 24-26) over the John Jay Bloodhounds.
Against John Jay,
Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) collected his fifth double-double of the season behind a 27 assist, 10 dig performance. Rombach totaled 48 assists in the tri-match.
Nate Roche (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton),
Regan Hess (Burlington, Wis./Wetosha Central) and
Thad Paunovich (Avonmore, Pa./Kiski Area) each notched six kills in the victory. Paunovich recorded four service aces three blocks. Hess added six blocks while Roche dug out 10 attacks.
Cody Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) paced the Tomcat offense in both games leading the team in kills in both games. Patterson totaled 17 kills in the two matches while adding seven digs and three blocks.
The Tomcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. when they take on the Juniata Eagles in a CVC contest.
