GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) and
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored a season-high 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lead the Thiel College women's basketball team to a 78-68 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory Saturday over the Westminster Titans at Beeghly Gymnasium.
In addition to her game-best 22 points, Watkins also grabbed 13 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season. She made 9-of-10 shots from the floor and also connected on 4-of-8 tries from the charity line.
With her 22 points Saturday, Watkins moved into sixth place on Thiel's career points list, surpassing Cindy Bynum, who scored 1,203 points from 1984-88. Watkins has amassed 1,213 career points.
Duchon's 21 points fell one shy of her career high. She made 6-of-8 shots from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. She also connected on all five of her shots from the line.
Kayla Welty (Portville, N.Y./Portville ) also contributed nine points for the Tomcats while
Alivia Sidley (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) scored eight points.
Kristine Fromknecht led the Titans with 17 points. Rachel Durbin and Kylie Cook contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Thiel's
Amy Abdelrasoul (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield),
Taylor Ketler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton),
Hannah Stoneman (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Hiland), Watkins and Welty were honored during Senior Day prior to Saturday's game.
The Tomcats will return to action Wednesday when they host the Saint Vincent Bearcats at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC contest is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
