GREENVILLE, Pa. – The No. 13-ranked Thomas More Saints defeated the Thiel Tomcats 63-16 Saturday at Alumni Stadium.
With the win the Saints earned at least a share of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title. The Saints concluded the regular season with a 9-1 overall record and an 8-0 conference record.
Thomas More led Thiel 14-0 after one quarter on touchdown runs by C.T. Tarrant (10 yards) and Hjavier Pitts (6 yards).
The Tomcats cut the lead to four points early in the second quarter on a 27-yard field goal by
Chris Rosales (Port St. Lucie, Fla. /St. Lucie West Centennial) and an eight-yard touchdown run by
Ryan Radke (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central).
Thomas More followed with touchdowns on a 72-yard pass from Brenan Kuntz to Logan Winkler and a two-yard run by Tarrant to hold a 28-10 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter.
DeShawon Bracy (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Radke late in the first half, but the Saints responded with a 64-yard touchdown pass from Kuntz to Winkler to take a 35-16 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Saints went on to outscore the Tomcats 28-0 in the second half.
Radke completed 20 passes for 186 yards. He also led the Tomcats on the ground with 143 yards on 18 totes. He threw a touchdown pass and ran for a touchdown.
Jaquan Hicks (Ware Shoals, S.C./Ware Shoals) caught six passes for 27 yards. Bracy caught five passes, one of which was a touchdown catch, for 59 yards.
Kuntz completed 13 passes for 345 yards. He threw three touchdown passes to Winkler, who recorded six catches on the day for 232 yards. Tarrant ran for 74 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns on 14 carries.
Linebacker
Jake Elk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led the Tomcats with eight tackles. He also recorded 1.5 sacks. Josh Hunter led the Saints with seven tackles, two of which were for a loss of yards, while forcing a fumble.
The Tomcats will close out the 2016 season Saturday when they take on the Grove City Wolverines on the road. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
