NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team was defeated 3-2 in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener Saturday against the Westminster Titans.
 
Katelyn Labos (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) gave the Tomcats the lead in the 42^nd minute on her shot to the bottom left side of the cage after receiving a pass from Marissa Ramirez (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst Steele). Keely Birsic tied up the game when she scored on a penalty kick with just six seconds remaining in the first half.
 
In the second half, Josie Banks scored on a header off of Birsic's corner kick in the 56^th minute before Melissa Thomas gave the Titans a 3-1 edge when she scored in the 75^th minute.
 
Emma Polinski (Brunswick, Ohio/Trinity) scored with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, but the Tomcats were unable to score the game-tying goal down the stretch.
 
Birsic led the Titans with a goal and an assist.
 
Kim Gentry (Madison, Ohio/Madison) made six saves for the Tomcats while Laura Page denied two shots for the Titans.
 
The Tomcats will host the Saint Vincent Bearcats Wednesday at Alumni Stadium. The PAC contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
