GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 non-conference contest Tuesday to the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders at Alumni Stadium.
Jonathan Akindipe opened scoring for the Raiders 36 minutes into the contest after he came up with a steal in Thiel's end.
The Tomcats knotted up the contest in the 61
st minute when
Dominic Walker (Kent, Ohio/Field) tapped a pass to
Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville) in the box. Scotty Welker went on to score the game-winning goal for the Raiders roughly 16 minutes later.
Freshman netminder
Trey Roller (Girard, Ohio/Ursuline) made two saves for the Tomcats. Dylan Lias earned the win for the Purple Raiders.
The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Friday when they host the Westminster Titans at Alumni Stadium. The contest is slated for an 8 p.m. start.
