Box Score 2 CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team dropped two matches Friday during the first day of the Marcia French Invitational against the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans and Case Western Reserve University Spartans.
The Tomcats fell in three sets to the Tartans (25-15, 25-18, 25-15) and the Spartans (25-13, 25-14, 25-12).
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) paced the Tomcat attack against the Tartans with six kills and two block assists.
Bailey Holmes (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Grand Valley) had a team-high five kills against the Spartans.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) totaled 36 assists in the two games on Friday.
The Tomcats will resume play at the Marcia French Invitational Saturday, taking on the Hiram College Terriers and the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets in Berea, Ohio. The first match is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
