PAC Unveils preseason cross country coaches’ polls

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference unveiled its annual Men's and Women's Preseason Cross Country Polls, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, Monday. The conference also released its Runners to Watch list Monday.

Thiel's women's team was predicted to finish fifth in the conference, according to the preseason coaches' poll, with 53 points. The women's team finished fourth in 2014.

Seniors Meri Steinmetz (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater- Raritan) and Megan Kidder (Worthington, Pa./Kittanning) and junior Summer Wark (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry) represented Thiel's women's team on the conference's Runners to Watch list.

Steinmetz was an All-PAC Second Teamer last season with an 11th-place finish at the conference championships (24:22). She was also an All-PAC Honorable Mention selection as a freshman and sophomore. Kidder and Wark finished 32nd and 34th, respectively, at last year's conference championships.

Grove City was predicted to win the women's conference title with 100 points and 10 first-place votes. Waynesburg finished second (90 points) while Saint Vincent was picked third (67 points).

Thiel's men's team was predicted to finish eighth, according to the preseason coaches' poll, with 37 points. The men's team finished fourth in 2014.

Senior Ryan Thomas (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) represented Thiel's men's team on the conference's Runners to Watch list. Thomas placed 27th at last year's conference championships in 28:59.

Saint Vincent was predicted to win the men's league title with 98 points and eight first-place votes. Grove City finished second in voting with 90 points and one first-place vote while Waynesburg was selected to finish third with 73 points.

The 2015 PAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31 and will be hosted by Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. The 2015 Division III Mideast Regional Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 and will be hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
