WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team fell to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 8-7 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Thursday afternoon.
The Tomcats were victims of a walkoff two-RBI single by Jonathan Kletzli in the ninth inning that gave the Yellow Jackets the victory.
Trent Smith (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Ryan Brumbaugh (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) and
Brian Genco (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) each went 2-for-5 in the game. Brumbaugh added a two-RBI double that scored Smith and
Matt Elko (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire).
Riley Schwertz (Zelienople, Pa./Freedom) pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out two and giving up three earned runs.
The Tomcats (16-5, 6-3 PAC) will again face the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. in a PAC doubleheader at Tomcat Park.
