BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's basketball team was defeated 79-54 by Betty Abgott Invitational host Buffalo State Friday afternoon at the Sports Arena in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Tomcats started strong Friday and held a 7-point lead after the first quarter. At halftime Thiel trailed by just six points (38-32), but the Bengals opened the third quarter with an 18-4 run en route to the non-conference victory.
Hannah Stoneman (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Hiland) and
Alivia Sidley (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) led the Tomcats with 11 points apiece.
Erin DiFalco (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) also scored 10 points for Thiel while
Danyelle Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and
Taylor Ketler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) each pulled down five rebounds.
Britt Perry and Keyonte Edwards both tallied double-doubles for the Bengals. Perry scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Edwards scored 17 points and collected 11 rebounds.
Thiel will face John Carroll in the Betty Abgott Invitational consolation game Saturday at 11 a.m.
