LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats tied the Saint Vincent Bearcats in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday, 3-3.
Saint Vincent scored first 18:39 into the contest on a shot by Kevin Proctor from the box. Thiel rebounded to tie the game with less than seven minutes remaining before halftime when
Keegan Moss (Atwater, Ohio/Waterloo) scored on a header that was set up on a corner kick by
Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville).
The Tomcats took their first lead a little more than five minutes into the second half when
John Thiel (Pickerington, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) scored on a rebound. The Bearcats tied the game back up, 2-2, less than nine minutes later on a header by Zachary D'Amico.
Jordan Lilley (Jamestown, Ohio/Greeneview) went on to give the Tomcats a 3-2 lead with less than 30 minutes left in regulation on a pass from
Dominic Walker (Kent, Ohio/Field). Roughly 10 minutes later the Bearcats evened the score for the third time when Christian Trueax scored on a rebound.
Thiel took three shots through two 10-minute overtime sessions while the Bearcats took four shots with neither team able to come up with the game-winning goal.
Moss, Thiel and Lilley each scored a goal for the Tomcats. Proctor led the Bearcats with a goal and an assist.
Trey Roller (Girard, Ohio/Ursuline) made 16 saves for Thiel while Jon White made 11 stops for the Bearcats.
The Tomcats will travel to Waynesburg, Pa., Saturday to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in another PAC contest, which is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
